Training and capacity building

   Anti-poaching training to forest personnel

Training the trench warriors
Training is another important issue that Wildlife First has been addressing since 1995.   Workshops and field visits for journalists, politicians and bureaucrats have been conducted to educate them about the problems of wildlife conservation.  Workshops for senior forest department officials on law enforcement handled by leading Supreme Court lawyers have been organized.

Eleven anti-poaching training camps have been conducted for frontline protection staff at various reserves by which more than 500 personnel have been trained. The content included basic training to improve field craft and tracking skills; anti-poaching techniques demonstrated by mock drills; handling and effective use of firearms, including maintenance and safety measures; wireless equipment handling, maintenance and communication skills; and simple guidelines on legal procedures  for proper prosecution of wildlife offense cases.
